  • The journey starts!

    A.P. 2 Dec. 17 – Jan. 5

    After spending the night at Penitentes, the group started the approach trail today.

    A van took them to the trailhead at Punta de Vacas. Ready for the adventure, they began this 3-day hike. It is approximately 40 kilometers long, so it will allow them to get a good acclimatization on their way uphill.

    The trail is filled with amazing views and beautiful landscapes, where they will be able to appreciate the typical local flora and fauna.

    This is just the beginning of their long-awaited expedition! As soon as we get more news, we will be posting them.

  • The adventure begins!

    A.P. 3 Dec. 17 – Jan. 5

    The team is ready to start the trip!

    After the group got their permits to enter the Aconcagua park, the guides loaded the van with all the gear and everyone jumped into it, ready for the adventure!

    They enjoyed the scenery on their way to Penitentes, where they will spend the night. After packing everything, they will be ready to start the approach trail tomorrow morning.

    This 3-day hike, filled with amazing views, is approximately 40 kilometers long and will take them to Plaza Argentina Base Camp at 13,800′.

    The team is led by Sebastián Satke and assisted by the guide Matías Nestares and the apprentice José Purto.

    As shown in the picture below, the group shared a meal together last night, paired with a good local wine.

    Also, we are sharing a video that we just received from Sebastián, the lead guide, where you can see how everything is getting ready at Penitentes.

  • Another great team is ready to start!

    A.P. 2 Dec. 17 – Jan. 5

    The group left the city today and is starting the astonishing journey into the mountains!

    They will spend the night at Penitentes and tomorrow they will be ready to begin the 3-day hike towards Plaza Argentina Base Camp at 13,800′, with two great guides leading them. Rolo Abaca is their lead guide, assisted by Adrián Jiménez.

    As you can see in the picture below, yesterday there was a meeting with the whole group. They will be spending a lot of time together the next days, so it was a great opportunity to introduce themselves and get to know each other. Also, Rolo explained the itinerary, detailing each day of the expedition.

    We will be posting more news, as we receive satellite phone calls from the guides. We are excited to here from them soon!

  • Summit!

    A.P. 1 Nov. 29 – Dec. 18

    The group reached the summit today! A great success!

    They stood at 22,834 feet, the highest point of America and the highest mountain out of the Himalayas. An experience they will surely never forget!

    After their big achievement, they will complete the Aconcagua Traverse. Today they are spending the night at High Camp and getting a well-deserved rest there.

    Tomorrow they will descend the Normal Route to Plaza de Mulas Base Camp, where they will spend another night. The next day they will hike down to the trailhead, from where they will be picked up and driven to Mendoza.

    Congratulations to them for the great effort!

  • Today is the big day!

    A.P. 1 Nov. 29 – Dec. 18

    The group reached High Camp yesterday and stayed well hydrated up there.

    Rolo, the lead guide, said they are all fine and ready to tackle the summit today.

    We hope for the best on this challenging day, as they work hard uphill.

  • Successful move to Camp 2

    A.P. 1 Nov. 29 – Dec. 18

    The team already moved to Camp 2 at 18,000′ yesterday. They made it safely and are all acclimatizing well.

    They are going fast to take advantage of good weather conditions and are moving to High Camp today.

    We are attaching a picture taken during a previous trip.

  • Camp 1

    A.P. 1 Nov. 29 – Dec. 18

    The group successfully moved to Camp 1 today. They already had dinner and are in their tents ready to rest.

    Rolo, the lead guide, said they are all fine and adapting to the high altitude.

  • Carry to Camp 1

    A.P. 1 Nov. 29 – Dec. 18

    The team carried to Camp 1 during the day. Now they are back at Base Camp to spend the night and rest tomorrow there.

    After that, they will be moving to Camp 1. This process is key to get a good acclimatization.

    We attach a photo of the group having a meal at Base Camp and another one above carrying to Camp 1.

  • They arrived at Plaza Argentina Base Camp!

    A.P. 1 Nov. 29 – Dec. 18

    After spending their second night at Casa de Piedra, the group crossed the Vacas river and hiked towards Plaza Argentina, arriving there today.

    Everyone is fine and motivated. Tomorrow they are going to rest there to achieve a good acclimatization and get everything ready for the high altitude camps.

  • The long-awaited trip is now a reality!

    A.P. 1 Nov. 29 – Dec. 18

    The group is starting the approach trail today, towards the first camp called Pampa de Leñas through the Vacas Valley. They are all very excited as this will be their first night in the mountains.
