sixth team met at the Park Hyatt hotel

Yesterday the sixth team met at the Park Hyatt hotel, we had the usual group meeting and then went to dinner where they could taste our wine and meat.

Now they are going to Los Penitentes (2700m) , the last bed and hot shower in two weeks for them. They will begin their 3-day hike in to base camp (at 4200m, or 13800 ft approx) tomorrow.

The team is lead by the Mendocinian guide Rolo Abaca, who has just come back from the summit whit AP4, and assisted by Drew Dochstader.

They are a nice team and they are going to have great time on the mountain. We attach a photo taken at the entrance of the Hyatt before they leave.

We will be updating information as the Guide call me from their sat phone.

  • Camp I!

  • Getting ready for Altitude

    Getting ready for Altitude

Our guide Mili called from base camp. Everyone is fine and preparing for carry the loads to camp 1 (16,000ft) tomorrow. It will be the team first steps in height.

So they are hoping to be ready to move to Camp 1 the day after tomorrow. Carrying to higher altitude and sleeping at lower altitude helps the body to adjust to the thin air, to then move to a higher camp.

We attach a picture of the trial to Camp 1 from a previous group.

    We will keep you posted.

  • End of the trip

    End of the trip

Finally, the group had its celebration dinner last night, in a fine steak restaurant, with some glass of Malbec wine.

Now they are ready to come back home and share with their loved ones their adventure in the Aconcagua

  • Ten days climb

    Ten days climb

Eigth climbers and three guides are in the base camp now. This group will climb the highest mountain in America in 10 days

They came to the mountain already pre – acclimatized, using an Altitude Training System – Hypoxic tent where they acclimatized before. Regular Aconcagua trips are 20 days long. but this expedition will last only 10 days. The team will have the same chance to successfully get a shot at the summit of Aconcagua because of previous acclimatization.

That’s why this expedition starts with a helicopter flight from the trailhead to Base Camp, shaving 3 days off the approach to Base Camp. The climbers left Mendoza early this morning and now they are resting at base camp preparing to begin this challenge.

We attach some pictures taken this morning before the team fly to the base camp.

    We will keep you informed!
