  • Awaited summit!

    Awaited summit!

After waiting a few days the team finally reached the summit today! They stood

at 22,834 ft looking to the rest of the Andes below. Congratulations to them!

Now they will complete the Aconcagua traverse, by descending to base camp Plaza de Mulas today and they will be back at Mendoza tomorrow. Where they will celebrate this great achievement!

There goes a pic of the summit, from a previous trip.

  • Hard weather

    Hard weather

The group was hit by strong winds in camp I (16,000ft). Everybody is finne but part of the group decided to come down to Base camp on friday because the weather showed no change and some must return to their home. Now they are going to Mendoza to rest and have a deserved dinner with some wine.

On the other hand one member , the leader guide and an assistant decided to stay a few more days waiting for the weather improves.

Congratulations to all for the great effort!

Sometimes the weather is very hard , we hope that it improve the following days.

  • Camp I!

    Camp I!

The group is resting in Camp I. They are in good shape and adapting to the high altitude. Although the windy weather they are determined to continue trying to gain altitude.

Their plan is to carry gear and fuel to Camp II tomorrow.

  • Getting ready for Altitude

    Getting ready for Altitude

Our guide Mili called from base camp. Everyone is fine and preparing for carry the loads to camp 1 (16,000ft) tomorrow. It will be the team first steps in height.

So they are hoping to be ready to move to Camp 1 the day after tomorrow. Carrying to higher altitude and sleeping at lower altitude helps the body to adjust to the thin air, to then move to a higher camp.

We attach a picture of the trial to Camp 1 from a previous group.

    We will keep you posted.

  • Ten days climb

    Ten days climb

Eigth climbers and three guides are in the base camp now. This group will climb the highest mountain in America in 10 days

They came to the mountain already pre – acclimatized, using an Altitude Training System – Hypoxic tent where they acclimatized before. Regular Aconcagua trips are 20 days long. but this expedition will last only 10 days. The team will have the same chance to successfully get a shot at the summit of Aconcagua because of previous acclimatization.

That’s why this expedition starts with a helicopter flight from the trailhead to Base Camp, shaving 3 days off the approach to Base Camp. The climbers left Mendoza early this morning and now they are resting at base camp preparing to begin this challenge.

We attach some pictures taken this morning before the team fly to the base camp.

    We will keep you informed!
