    A.P. 3 (Dec. 17, 2018 – Jan. 5, 2019)

    They reached the summit today! It was very windy and cold, but they made it to the top of the highest peak out of the Himalayas at 22,834′.

    They waited an extra day with harsh weather at High Camp and that was highly rewarded with an unforgettable experience.

    The group is now back at High Camp. They will spend the night there and continue towards Plaza de Mulas Base Camp tomorrow.

    The team is at High Camp with bad weather conditions.

    In spite of the strong winds, they are fine and motivated to stay there today. The group will try to go to the summit tomorrow.

    High Camp!

    They got to High Camp today, reaching an altitude of 19,200′.

    It is very windy up there, so they are paying special attention to the weather forecast to make any decision.

    They are planning to rest there tomorrow and tackle the summit the following day.

    Ready to move to High Camp

    The group left Camp 1 behind and successfully reached Camp 2 yesterday. Today they are resting there, at 17,500′.

    They are preparing to move to High Camp tomorrow. They will gain more altitude, as it is located at 19,200′.

  • Moving to Camp 2 tomorrow

    Moving to Camp 2 tomorrow

    A.P. 3 (Dec. 17, 2018 – Jan. 5, 2019)

    The team carried to Camp 2 (17,500′) yesterday and went back to Camp 1 to spend the night and rest there today.

    They are getting everything ready to move to Camp 2 tomorrow. The guides will plan the upcoming days according to the weather conditions.

    Merry Christmas!

    The team left Base Camp this morning and moved to Camp 1, among beautiful views. They are now at 16,300′.

    We spoke with the guides and they said that everyone is fine and getting used to the altitude. The plan is to carry to Camp 2 tomorrow.

    The group carried some loads to Camp 1. Later, they went back to Base Camp.

    They will rest there tomorrow, before moving to Camp 1 the next day. The team is on schedule and doing a great job.

    Resting at Base Camp

    A.P. 3 (Dec. 17, 2018 – Jan. 5, 2019)

    The group spent the day at Plaza Argentina Base Camp, getting ready for tomorrow that they are planning to carry to Camp 1.

    They will gain more altitude, reaching 16,300′. After that, they will go back to Base Camp to spend the night.

    Look at the team enjoying the approach, especially when they got the chance to share great meals in the mountain.

    They reached Base Camp!

    A.P. 3 (Dec. 17, 2018 – Jan. 5, 2019)

    The group finished the 3-day approach hike, getting to Plaza Argentina Base Camp (13,800′) today.

    This itinerary is not only beautiful because of its scenery, but also gives them a great opportunity to get a good acclimatization, as they progressively gain altitude. Last night they stayed at Casa de Piedra and continue towards Base Camp today.

    They all are fine and enjoying the first days of their expedition. Tomorrow they are planning to take a rest day.

  • The team started the approach trail

    The team started the approach trail

    A.P. 3 (Dec. 17, 2018 – Jan. 5, 2019)

    Yesterday they spent the night in Penitentes, where they shared dinner at the hotel.

    This morning they woke up and went to the trailhead. They showed their permits to enter the Aconcagua park at the rangers’ office and after that, they were ready to begin the 3-day approach hike to Plaza Argentina Base Camp.

    We spoke with Cacho, their lead guide, who told us they are fine and motivated in Pampa de Leñas, where they will spend the night. They were getting ready to have dinner, a typical barbecue made by the local arrieros.
