    A.P. 2 (Dec. 17 – Jan. 5)

    They got to the summit! Two teams summited today, having 14 people on top!

    After a long day, they reached the top of America at 22,834′. This is also the highest mountain out of the Himalayas! It is for sure an experience they will never forget!

    The team will sleep at High Camp and tomorrow they will go down to Plaza de Mulas Base Camp, completing the Aconcagua Traverse. They will return to the city the following day.

    High Camp!

    A.P. 2 (Dec. 17 – Jan. 5)

    The team left Camp 2 and successfully moved to High Camp today, reaching an altitude of 19,200′.

    They are going to the summit tomorrow! The group is getting everything ready for the big day.

    Rest day at Camp 2

    The group stayed at Camp 2 today and took a rest day there.

    We spoke with Rolo, the lead guide, who said the team is fine. The plan is to move to High Camp tomorrow.

    On their way to Camp 2

    A.P. 2 (Dec. 17 – Jan. 5)

    The team carried some loads to Camp 2 yesterday and returned to Camp 1 to spend the night. This plan, in which they gain altitude and go back down, is good for the acclimatization process.

    Rolo, the lead guide, called us and said they are all fine. Today the group is moving to Camp 2 at 17,500′.

  • Moving to Camp 1 on Christmas Day!

    Moving to Camp 1 on Christmas Day!

    A.P. 2 (Dec. 17 – Jan. 5)

    The team stayed at Base Camp yesterday to rest and get used to the altitude. Today they are moving to Camp 1, which is located at 16,300′.

    We are attaching some pictures of the group sharing a meal together yesterday.

    The team successfully carried some loads to Camp 1 today. After that, they went back down to Base Camp to spend the night.

    We spoke with the guides, who said they are planning to take a rest day there tomorrow.

    The team is at Base Camp

    We spoke with Rolo, the lead guide, who told us they successfully got to Plaza Argentina Base Camp today.

    Yesterday they reached Casa de Piedra and spent the night there. Today they woke up and after having breakfast, continued the hike to Base Camp at 14,200′.

  • Approach hike!

    Approach hike!

    A.P. 2 (Dec. 17 – Jan. 5)

    The group has already started the hike that will take them to Plaza Argentina Base Camp at 14,200′.

    The trail goes along the Vacas and Ameghino Valleys and it gains altitude progressively, which is great for the acclimatization process. The team will spend their first night in the mountains at Pampa de Leñas.

  • The adventure begins!

    The adventure begins!

    A.P. 2 (Dec. 17 – Jan. 5)

    The team was excited to leave the city today! They went to Penitentes to spend the night and tomorrow they will start the 3-day approach hike to Base Camp along a beautiful trail filled with stunning landscapes.

    Yesterday they had a group meeting and got the permits to enter the Aconcagua park. After that, they shared a tasty dinner together.

    The team is led by Rolo Abaca, who is assisted by Angela Cardenas and Florencia Torres. They are taking a satellite phone with them to keep us updated.

    Looking forward to a great expedition!
