    A.P. 5 (Dec. 28 – Jan. 16)

    Great news! They got to the summit!

    It was a challenging day, but they worked hard and got to the top of America at 22,834′. This is also the highest peak out of the Himalayas, what a great achievement!

    They will spend the night at High Camp and will go down to Plaza de Mulas Base Camp tomorrow. The team will hike out along the Horcones Valley the day after tomorrow, completing the Aconcagua Traverse.

  • Moving to High Camp

    Moving to High Camp

    A.P. 5 (Dec. 28 – Jan. 16)

    The team carried and moved to Camp 2 at 17,500′. After taking a rest day there, they are moving to High Camp today, reaching an altitude of 19,200′.

    There are strong winds up there, but the team is fine and motivated.

    Although the weather is bad, the plan is to tackle the summit tomorrow.

  • Move to Camp 1

    Move to Camp 1

    A.P. 5 (Dec. 28 – Jan. 16)

    The team left Plaza Argentina Base Camp and successfully moved to Camp 1 today.

    They are now at 16,300′.

    Pablo, the lead guide, called and said they are all fine.

  • Rest day at Base Camp

    Rest day at Base Camp

    A.P. 5 (Dec. 28 – Jan. 16)

    The team hiked near Plaza Argentina Base Camp to get used to the altitude, reaching the top of Mount Colorado.

    After that, they went back down to Base Camp and rested there yesterday.

    They will be planning their next steps according to the weather conditions.

  • Carry to Camp 1

    Carry to Camp 1

    A.P. 5 (Dec. 28 – Jan. 16)

    The group successfully carried some loads to Camp 1 today and went back down to Base Camp. This plan allows them to get a good acclimatization.

    They are taking a rest day at Base Camp tomorrow.

  • Base Camp!

    Base Camp!

    A.P. 5 (Dec. 28 – Jan. 16)

    The team finished the 3-day approach hike to Plaza Argentina Base Camp yesterday.

    They spent their first night in the mountains at Pampa de Leñas and then continued to Casa de Piedra.

    The following day they hiked up to Base Camp at 14,200′. The group is fine and taking a rest day there today.

  • New team ready for Aconcagua!

    New team ready for Aconcagua!

    A.P. 5 (Dec. 28 – Jan. 16)

    The group had a meeting with the guides to get to know each other. Later, they tasted a typical barbecue paired with local wines.

    Today they went to Penitentes to spend the night and tomorrow they will start the 3-day approach hike to Base Camp along the Vacas and Ameghino Valleys.

    Their lead guide is Pablo Goldengruss, who is assisted by Christian Steidle and José Purto. They are taking a satellite phone with them to keep us updated.
